    From Creed, Royal Oud is a 2011 woody spicy EDP by perfumers Olivier Creed and Julien Rasquinet — the house's answer to the global oud trend, reimagined through Creed's distinctly European lens into something cooler, more citrus-forward, and considerably more restrained than the dense, resinous oud compositions that define Middle Eastern perfumery. The top opens with pink pepper, lemon, and Sicilian bergamot — sharp, fresh, and lightly spiced, an immediately invigorating citrus-pepper opening that signals this is an oud fragrance for people who think they don't like oud. The heart develops into cedar, angelica, and galbanum — dry, green, and quietly complex, the angelica adding an herbal, root-like quality that gives the mid-wear a distinctly natural character you don't find in most flankers of this type. The base settles into sandalwood, oud, and musk — warm, woody, and creamy, the oud elegant and well-integrated rather than dominant or medicinal. 7–9 hours, moderate projection.
