    From Gloria Vanderbilt, Minuit à New York — "Midnight in New York" — is a 2015 oriental floral EDP by perfumer Dora Baghriche of Firmenich, who drew on her own experience living in New York City to capture the glamour and nocturnal energy of the city through an opulent bouquet of white florals, inspired by the swan nickname Truman Capote gave to Vanderbilt herself. The top opens with tuberose, pink peony, and white lily — a lush, creamy, intensely white-floral opening that immediately projects with real presence, the tuberose doing what tuberose does best and taking up the whole room in the most satisfying way possible. The heart deepens into gardenia, jasmine, violet, and hyacinth — a rich, layered floral core that builds on the opening with more complexity and a slightly powdery, slightly cool edge from the hyacinth and violet that keeps things from going purely tropical. The base settles into sandalwood, patchouli, amberwood, and suede — warm, earthy, and skin-close with a suede texture that gives the whole dry-down a quietly luxurious finish. 7–9 hours, moderate-to-strong projection. Best in fall and winter; a powerhouse white floral at a price that makes zero sense for how good it is.
